			==Mustering Ground==
			The grounds themselves are an open drill yard large enough to run formation exercises, as well as containing military obstacle courses and an archery range. A tall hedge runs alongside the rectangular perimeter; at each corner stands a statue of a Navarri, with names etched into the pedestal.

			The barracks are relatively plain and functional, with plenty of weapon racks for spears, staves, shields and bows. Outside the front door of the barracks, the Vallornguard banner is proudly displayed.

			As the Vallornguard is an Imperial body of state, the drill instructors working at the mustering grounds come from all over the Empire. Some notable ones include wagon raiders from the [[Varushka_groups#The_Pinewheels\|Pinewheels]], nobles from houses such as [[Dawn_groups#House_Summerstrong\|Summerstrong]] and Griffinsong, as well as thorns from the Heartsbane steading and Twin Wreath striding.

==Appointment==
The First Thorn is appointed during the Spring Equinox each year by members of the Vallornguard.

The First Thorn will be elected for a shortened term of three seasons during the Summer Solstice 388YE.
