			Nestled in the south-western reaches of Srodkoja in Miekarova, the Vale of Myazlis sits almost in the looming presence of the Icy Crag of Eternal Darkness, the foreboding college of magic dominating the landscape. Sheltered by the mountains marking the border of Miekarova and Skarsind, this small, self-reliant vale thrives with minimal need for the outside world—its main contact a steady trickle of trade with the Icy Crag’s ritualists.

			The surrounding forests are particularly robust and thick-limbed; this seems to have carried over to the locals, known for their strength and resilience. The clang of hammers echoes between the hills as its smiths forge tools and weapons from the ore mined nearby, while apothecaries vanish into the green depths in search of potent herbs. Each day, a single bell calls the folk together for rigorous training, keeping bodies honed and ready.

			Peace may reign most days, but the howl of wolves or the shadow of greater threats is never far. The people of Myazlis meet these dangers with their usual pragmatic style: hard training, strong arms and a little bit of tempering wisdom from the vale's wise ones.

			The Pinewheels are a veteran and hard-bitten unit of wagon raiders who operate out of the Stinking Market in Ossium, formed in 383YE to secure the territory against the Druj and make a profit in the process. They take pride in completing the riskiest and most dangerous contracts they can find in foreign lands, with a motto of "Prosperity, Prosperity, Prosperity" demanding a high price in exchange for their services. Proud of their wagon raiding tradition, they disdain fighting on Imperial soil and often raid the Forest of Ulnak independently to earn their bread, if other work cannot be found.

			Within the recesses of Moresvah, where the mountains meet the Semmerlak, lies the keep of the Utovshy Vale. A crumbling stone wall with towers that cling to the cliffs above the crushing waves. Treacherous jagged steps wind down the trail to the village which lurks in the shadows of the keep. The recent settlers contend with the superstitious remnants of the original townsfolk.

			The keep and docks provide many opportunities for trade and prosperity in esoteric pursuits. The origin of the keep and how it came to be abandoned lurks in the darker thoughts of those who come to reside here. Hardy and pragmatic, the folk are no strangers to a hard day's toil, throwing themselves into the renovations lest their thoughts turn to the ill omens that haunt their shores.

			Whispers of dread deeds done in dark times to appease the spirit of the lake permeate the dank corners of the vale. Perhaps this is why the schlacta and wardens of the area are uncommonly ruthless in their vigilance, dedicating many of their strongest to train with blade, spear and axe. Their nerve is tested when wails of those condemned to a watery grave pierce the rolling fog.
