Virtue

Atun was recognised as a Paragon of Wisdom.

Biography

The Paragon Atun of the Highborn, was one of the Twin Navigators. Along with her brother Atuman, Exemplar of Ambition - sge steered the ships that bore the Highborn through unknown waters to their new homeland, as part of their exodus from their doomed home.

After the landing, Atun followed a vision of her own and sailed away to an unknown destination. She left behind students who honoured her memory and ultimately became the Scions of Atun and devoted their lives to spiritual matters, including unlocking the mysteries of liao.

Signs

  • By strict definition, Atun's voyage across the sea to what is now modern Highguard should not count as a Pilgrimage. However, as with certain other cases of paragons and exemplars who lived before the construction of the White City her travels both before and after the foundation of the new nation are deemed to meet this criteria.
  • Her wise sayings and her exploration of spiritual matters are a clear indication of Salvation. Without her it is likely the Way might have taken a very different form.
  • Her Legacy is the nation of Highguard, a legacy which she shares with her brother Atuman.
  • While there are few hard-and-fast facts, it is clear that by leading her people across the sea out of great danger she showed great Benevolence.
  • Although the circumstances of her death are unknown, there has never been a past-life vision that has even included Atun much less indicated she has been reincarnated. This is seen as a clear sign of iberation.
  • As with Atuman, several 'miracles are assigned to Atun in stories of her life. Not all can be confirmed, but there is enough evidence to suggest she possessed great spiritual power that was distinct from anything arcane.
