This page lists things that are likely to affect GOD crew, because they're special for this event and change how we normally do things. It'll be as complete as I can get it, but I can't promise to spot everything: sometimes things get hidden and sometimes I just don't spot them!

This doesn't try to cover everything in the Winds of Fortune: sometimes player ask for information about conjunctions, or about how certain titles or opportunities work. They're things we might be able to help with, but they're not covered here because they don't fundamentally change how GOD processes work.

General event information

This is the Summer Solstice 385YE. Sunset has been defined to be 21:00–22:00 for in-game purposes.

Character packs

  • Farewell wanderlust: Summer Gold: Characters will be getting 26 rings of basic income rather than the normal 18 rings. This includes new characters, and new character packs should have it printed automatically.
  • Farewell wanderlust: Wages of Wickedness: Characters with businesses should get vouchers that they can exchange for wains (see the Ephisis' Scale notes below). These were missing from character packs on Thursday; we added them on Friday, but players who picked up their packs on Thursday will need to come back.
  • Farewell wanderlust: Enchanted Brokers: Characters who had businesses and who had their business subjected to Rivers of Gold, Streams of Silver or Gift of the Wily Broker at E2 2023 should get a ribboned magical item in their pack. If someone is missing such an item:
    • Check (a) they have a business, and (b) their business was subject to such an effect (from the character page, click on the Business, then check the Magic tab).
    • If that doesn't explain things, or the player isn't happy with the explanation, escalate as normal.
  • Farewell wanderlust: Dissonant Growth:
    • Forests are producing two measures less than usual; characters with forests are instead getting "metallic fruit". This is expected. They can be used when casting rituals (discussed later in this article).
    • Farms are producing 72 rings less than usual; characters with farms are instead getting "ashen residue". This is expected. They can be used when casting rituals (discussed later in this article).
  • Farewell wanderlust: Treasures of the Earth: Mines may produce an additional "deepstones". This is expected. It is (presumably deliberately) unclear what mines generate these, so assume the presence or lack thereof of these "potions" on the front of character packs is correct.
  • The horror and the wild: The Beast of the Semmerlak: Fleets belonging to Dawnish, Varushkan and Holberg have a production penalty. They won't get as much stuff in their packs. This is expected.
  • Farewell wanderlust: Menhirs and Mana: Marchers who have diversified their farms might be expecting to lose that diversification and get some money back; this won't happen until after this event.

Character resources

  • Farewell wanderlust: Ripples of gold: This is a diversification option; as with diversification in general, it's something players do during downtime, not at the event.
  • Free resource swaps: in all the below cases, characters can swap resources for free. Process the resource swap as usual, but select the "no charge applied" option:
    • Farewell wanderlust: Menhirs and Mana: If the character is a Marcher, they currently have a farm, and they want to swap to a mana site. Note that if the farm is upgraded, they get a new mana site with their existing upgrades; if you don't know how to do that (it's a pain) write a ticket with the player's details and that they're trying to do this; the player doesn't need to wait around.
    • Battle cries: Despise the thieving bandit: If the character is in the League, and they want a business in Tassato.
    • Battle cries: Despise the thieving bandit: If someone brings in any of the following deeds:
      • A level 4 business in Sarvos.
      • A level 3 business in Tassato.
      • A level 2 business in Tassato.
      • A level 3 business in Karov.
      • A level 3 mine in Karov.
  • Fate and function: A New Home: Urizeni characters wanting to take advantage of the opportunity to get a new resource in Zenith for free or at reduced cost cannot do this in GOD. I don't know why, but if someone asks, then – per the Winds – they need to instead email in to plot@.

Magical changes

General ritual changes

  • Farewell wanderlust: Inedible Residues: Characters can use "Ashen Residue" when casting a ritual. This is possible only if (a) the ritual is in Autumn, (b) everyone involved in casting the ritual has it mastered, and (c) the ritual is no more than magnitude 8. In that case, one Ashen Residue pays the entire mana cost; take the lammy off the players instead of their mana.
  • Ruin: Blood and Consequences: rituals cast at the regio on Saturday between 10am and 10pm allow characters to gain an additional rank in the appropriate lore by reducing themselves to 0 hits, provided the ritual calls on an eternal for potentially violent purposes; check the Winds for more detail. This should normally happen at the regio, but if someone tries to use this in GOD (possibly for access reasons) talk to the ref desk or escalate.

Changes to trade rituals

This covers rituals like Ephisis' Scale, Tribute to the Thrice Cursed Court, Tithe of Bats, etc. Essentially anything that sends something to an eternal with a likelihood of getting something back. Note some of these rituals are also subject to more specific effects later in this section.

  • Farewell wanderlust: Hard Apples: Characters can trade "Metallic fruit" instead of or as well as whatever the ritual they're using normally trades. This works even if the ritual normally has limits on what can be sent (e.g. Tithe of Bats normally only allows trading Gloaming and Dragonbone).
    • When included with other items, one Metallic Fruit counts as five of any regular ingot or measure (e.g. for Tithe of Bats, one Metallic Fruit would count as five Gloaming or Dragonbone).
    • When on its own, one Metallic Fruit is traded for one vis of the appropriate realm.
    • If the ritual is Tribute to the Thrice Cursed Court, check with the ref desk: the Winds are deliberately ambiguous about what the effect will be, and I don't know anything more!

Ephisis' Scale

There's lots of things that have changed about Ephisis' Scale this event. If you have plot wiki access, there's more detail about some of them at the plot wiki Ephisis Trades page. As ever, if you're unsure about a trade, your best bet is probably to check with the ref desk.

  • General Ephisis' Scale changes:
    • For pre-arranged trades (where the players already more-or-less know what they'll get in return, some of which are described below), things will just work according to the existing arrangement.
    • For other trades on Friday or Saturday of the event, record the ritual as normal, take the physreps, and send them to Plot (I expect the ref desk will be keeping a pile to deliver intermittently). Per Inkpot gods: Weighers of Worth, the players do not get their stuff back until Sunday.
    • For other trades on Sunday of the event, the ritual fails: don't take the players' stuff, don't take their mana, don't record the ritual.
  • Farewell wanderlust: Wages of Wickedness: If players are trading money and vouchers, if you can follow the instructions on that page, do so. If not, check the plot wiki page or check with the ref desk.
  • Inkpot gods: Rewards of Virtue:
    • If players are trading liao, include the symbol Lann, and it's Friday or Saturday of the event, they get one crown per dose of liao. If it's Sunday, the ritual fails.
    • If the players are trading true liao, get Plot.
  • Inkpot gods: The Mediators Bargain: someone trading large quantities of materials might be after a schema. This will need to be checked on the plot wiki, as it's first-come-first-served and the plot wiki is where we'll record if someone has taken each offer up already.
  • Inkpot gods: Vermin of the Cities: If someone is trading triangular tokens (possibly assembled into a pentagon), check the plot wiki or with ref desk.

Before the Throne of Estavus

  • Inkpot gods: Fire Sale has some special trades with this ritual. They're only available at the regio; if a player comes to GOD because they can't use the regio (e.g. for access reasons), check with a head of department.

Cast Off the Chain of Memory

  • Ruin: Watched: Someone casting Cast Off the Chain of Memory can use Gloaming to get an additional effect. This is only possible at the regio; if a player comes to GOD because they can't use the regio (e.g. for access reasons), check with a head of department.

Swim Leviathan's Depth, Clear Counsel of the Everflowing River and Combing the Beach

  • Ruin: Crescendo: If someone tries to ask a question (using one of the effigies) on Saturday, or tries to cast the ritual on Sunday, it fails. Don't record anything, give the player their stuff back.

Revelation of the Jewel's Sparkling Heart and Bulging at the Seams

  • Farewell wanderlust: Investment Opportunities: If someone casts a ritual using one of the "deepstone" "potion" lammies (warstone, bloodstone, spellstone or heartstone), record the ritual as normal, take the lammy, and record that the lammy was used in the ritual (including which one it was). The players don't get anything back immediately.
