GOD 2024 E1 specials
This page lists things that are likely to affect GOD crew, because they're special for this event and change how we normally do things.
This doesn't try to cover everything in the Winds of Fortune and similar: sometimes player ask for information about conjunctions, or about how certain titles or opportunities work. They're things we might be able to help with, but they're not covered here because they don't fundamentally change how GOD processes work.
General event information
This is the Winter Equinox 385YE. This event, dusk is 20:30–21:30 for anything that needs a time period (e.g. rituals that can only be performed during dusk), and as 20:45 for anything that needs a specific point in time (e.g. the cut-off for using bows).

Character packs
Potions and similar
- Shining like fire: Shimmering Echoes: Any mine that was enchanted with Revelation of the Jewel's Sparkling Heart during 2023 E4 will provide a single deepstone each event throughout 2024 in addition to other benefits. Green iron = warstones, weltsilver = bloodstones, tempest jade = spellstones, orichalcum = heartstones. If someone thinks they should have one, try to find out if they had that ritual cast on them at 2023 E4; if investigating that doesn't explain what's going on, escalate.
Resource production and character income
- Things that burn: Participation: Hahnmark: Wintermark characters who sent their military unit to support the Beacons of Hahnmark will get a golden apple (Summer vis) in their character pack.
- Broken Sword: Serpent's Curse: Urizeni congregations will be getting one fewer liao and two fewer votes this event.
- Rules update 2024: Sinecures: Prior to 2024 E1, some sinecures would give synod votes. That's no longer the case, so some players may find they get fewer votes than they were expecting.
- Part of this together: Look to the Way: Priests with congregations who preach to the Way will get two extra Synod votes this event.
- The lake and the deep, dark woods: A Lady of the Semmerlak: Dawnish, Varushkan and Holberg characters with fleets suffer a penalty and therefore produce less than normal of whatever they might be producing.
Ribbons
- Rules update 2024: Electing senators: Prior to 2024 E1, some Dawnish and Urizeni characters would automatically get ribbons – Dawnish favours and Urizeni sigils – in their character packs. That's no longer the case. Players are welcome to keep using these ribbons if they already have them, but we're not issuing new ones and they're no longer part of the IC voting system.
- Rules update 2024: Stealing: Some items are getting gold ribbons this event.
- An item with a gold ribbon can be stolen without the knowledge of its owner (most items can now only be stolen with the owner's knowledge, e.g. by mugging them).
- If a player thinks they should have a gold ribbon for an item, send them to Adam: he's processing all gold ribbon requests this event.
- Printing gold ribbons will work the same as printing regular ribbons, except they will be on a separate print queue.
- Apart from the stealing rules and the slightly different printing process, items with gold ribbons work exactly the same as items with white ribbons; they can be targeted by rituals in the same way, for example.
- Ripples and shadows: Participation: Varushkan Armies: Some characters were able to request "spontaneous auras" – effectively hallowed item ribbons – by email. If they didn't email in to request these, we can't sort them out now.
Paperwork
- Rules update 2024: Tally of the Votes: Some players will get Bourse voting bonds in their character packs this event. If someone thinks they should have one of these and doesn't, check the rules for who should get them at EmpireWiki:Tally of the Votes#Votes, and check that there is a current election in their nation at EmpireWiki:Tally of the Votes#Schedule. If those links don't explain why their voting bonds are missing, escalate.
Wounds
- Things that burn: Participation: Navarr, Things that burn: Participation: Miaren: Some characters were able to request traumatic wounds in their character packs based on downtime events. If they didn't email in to request these, we can't sort them out now.
Character resources
- Rules update 2024: Sinecures: Characters who had a sinecure that provided synod votes, but who do not have a congregation, are able to swap to a congregation at no cost. This isn't something we're processing in GOD; if a player wants to take advantage of this, they need to do it by email. Escalate if that's a particular problem for someone.
- Out of the abyss: Picks in the Dark: Businesses in Varushka and Urizen can diversify for free. This needs to be done in the downtime system; we can't process it at the event.
Magical changes
- Things that burn: Participation: Navarr: Attempts to perform this ritual targetting Volodmartz or Karov will fail. This shouldn't normally come via GOD as it requires a regio.
Lost property
- Rules update 2024: Stealing: The rules on stealing have substantially changed, and I (Adam) am not going to try to write up what that means for lost property here. Talk to Erin and/or Alex for the details, or get them to update this bullet point…
