Revision as of 15:49, 23 April 2025
This page lists things that are likely to affect GOD crew, because they're special for this event and change how we normally do things.
This doesn't try to cover everything in the Winds of Fortune: sometimes player ask for information about conjunctions, or about how certain titles or opportunities work. They're things we might be able to help with, but they're not covered here because they don't fundamentally change how GOD processes work.
General event information
This is the Winter Solstice 386YE. This event, dusk is 20:00–21:00. Bows and crossbows cannot be used in Anvil after 21:00, and cannot be used on quests that start after 21:00.
If you have plot wiki access, see also Ref Info Winter 386, which covers a similar but different set of topics.
Character packs
Resource production and character income
- On southern sands: Foam and Life:
- Farms in Redoubt will have produced 18 rings less income than usual, but will have produced two doses of true vervain instead.
- Herb gardens in Redoubt will have produced two doses of true vervain less than usual, but will have produced 18 rings instead.
- Forests in Redoubt will produce two fewer measures than usual, but will have produced a single Spring vis instead.
- 386YE Winter Solstice winds of fortune: Trade Summary:
- Fleets trading with the Towers of Kantor in Axos will have suffered a penalty, so will have produced less income than usual.
- Fleets trading with the Commonwealth ports of Leerdam and Volkavaar will have received a bonus, so will have produced more income than usual, and the trade items have changed. (See also According to Principle.)
- Fleets trading with Caitun in Faraden will, if coming from the Marches and Wintermark, have received a bonus, so will have produced more income than usual. The trade items have also changed. (See also All the wind.)
- Fleets trading with Zemeh in the Sumaah Republic will have received different items to usual. (See also Friend of mine.)
Ribbons
- By northern shores: Participation: Some players may have requested spontaneous auras on weapons or jewellery. These will be ribbons that work more-or-less identically to hallowings. These ribbons should be in their character packs. Players needed to email in to request these, we can't provide them on demand in GOD.
- Under eastern skies: Participation: Some players may have requested spontaneous auras on shields, armour or jewellery. These will be ribbons that work more-or-less identically to hallowings. These ribbons should be in their character packs. Players needed to email in to request these, we can't provide them on demand in GOD.
Wounds
- By northern shores: Participation: Some players may have requested lingering wounds in their character packs if they had military units involved in this battle. Players needed to email in to request these, we can't provide them on demand in GOD.
- Under eastern skies: Participation: Players whose military unit took part in this action will receive lingering wounds in their character packs. They can hand back or bin the wound if they don't want to roleplay having been fighting with their military unit.
Potions
- Runa's Gift: this is a new set of potions that characters can make, consisting of Greenmaster's Reach, Brokendraught, Runa's Whisper and Tender's Path. Fundamentally these can be treated identically to any other potion set that apothecaries with the right recipes can make.
Magic
Detect Magic
- Gifts of a green mother: Briar Boon and Gifts of a green mother: Orc Blood: Anyone using Detect Magic/Discern Enchantment on someone may discover they bear a "mark of the Primal Forest" if they have been the target of one of the relevant empowered rituals. The best way to check this will be to check with the target of the ritual.
Military rituals
- Rules update 2025: Military Rituals and Rules update 2025: Military Units and Fleets: A lot of rituals that affect the military game have changed. This shouldn't make any practical difference to GOD processes, but if players are confused, there's more details in the links. If someone has a relevant ritual mastered that they want to drop as a result of this, they should have emailed in advance, but if they haven't already cast the ritual this event, feel free to clear it from their character sheet.
Spring rituals
- Gifts of a green mother:
- Several Spring rituals can be changed by invoking Yaw'nagrah and substituting ambergelt for mana (two ambergelt can be used in place of one mana crystal, and at least one mana crystal must be substituted this way). If someone does this, make sure to include in the ritual notes that they have done so. Additionally, if someone wants to make a ritual effect permanent using ilium, this is cheaper for these rituals; this should be rare so make sure to get a ref involved if this might be happening.
- There are several other changes to Spring rituals under this Wind; they're all flagged in the ref notes for the ritual so the details are not repeated here.
Character resources
- Rules update 2025: Military Units and Fleets: The rules around what fleets and military units can do in downtime have changed, and will take effect immediately after this event. We shouldn't need to do anything other than potentially point players to the linked page about the rules changes.
