This page lists things that are likely to affect GOD crew, because they're special for this event and change how we normally do things.

This doesn't try to cover everything in the Winds of Fortune: sometimes player ask for information about conjunctions, or about how certain titles or opportunities work. They're things we might be able to help with, but they're not covered here because they don't fundamentally change how GOD processes work.

General event information

This is the Summer Solstice 387YE. This event, dusk is 20:30–21:30. Bows and crossbows cannot be used in Anvil after 21:25, and cannot be used on quests that start after 21:25.

If you have plot wiki access, see also Ref Info Summer 387 which covers a similar but different set of topics.

Character packs

Money

Ribbons

  • The last leg: Pearls Before Swine:
    • Fleet owners who didn't receive a boon from Rhianos for taking part in their great race receive a black pearl. Players who don't want this can give it back.
    • Fleet owners who took the "Widdershins by Riches" option also receive a magic scroll that can be used at the regio. We're not expecting to need to handle these in GOD; if someone tries, hand them off to a ref or escalate.

Potions and similar

Magic

Ritual texts and arcane projections

  • Beat of your drum: Risk and Reward: If someone brings in a ritual text entitled Rule of Risk and Reward, we can reprint it with updated text. Talk to Adam if you're unsure.
  • Stars and sigils: The Unravelling: Arcane Projections enchanting armies, navies, military units or fleets can be exchanged in GOD for 10 mana. If someone brings one in, give them the 10 mana, take the AP from them and write a short note saying it's been exchanged for mana, and put it in the inbox for so we can record that the AP has unravelled and can no longer be cast.

Night rituals

  • Nightfall in Apulian: Participation: If a Night mage has their resource in Spiral, and confirms they're roleplaying that the resource is based in Apulian, then they get some ritual boosts that will need to be manually calculated.
    • For any Night ritual, they can have a one-rank boost.
    • For any Night shroud ritual where they use a mask as one of Apulian's five personae as part of the casting, they can instead have a two-rank boost.

Winter rituals

  • The prettiest star: Cold Calling (Thrice Cursed Court): Someone casting Tribute to the Thrice Cursed Court and sending black pearls will receive vis as below:
    • If they have sent any pearls earlier in the event, either on their own or as part of a coven, they get nothing. This includes if a coven is casting and any of the participants have sent pearls in a previous ritual.
    • If there are 13 or fewer pearls, they get one Heart's Blood (winter vis) for each two pearls, rounded down.
    • If there are 14 or more pearls, they get 13 Heart's Blood (winter vis).

The Claw

  • EmpireWiki:Sound and vision#A Cry in the Night#Sound and vision: A Cry in the Night: A ritualist drawing on the constellation of the Claw:
    • May experience a roleplaying effect: you feel an urge to assert your dominance over anyone who challenges you, or seek a physical confrontation with anyone you feel has wronged you. Violence seems easy and satisfying. This lasts for at least half an hour if the player chooses to embrace the effect.
    • If the ritual is one of those listed at the above link associated with violence and conflict, the character can spend up to three hit points in place of up to three crystal mana, up to once per day. Note three hit points will put most characters on their death count, although they can always complete the ritual before they start their death count. Be aware this is illegal in character; be circumspect if a player tells you their character is doing it.

Urizen rituals

  • The prettiest star: Golden Years (Meraud):
    • Any Urizen ritualist performing an enchantment that targets a battlemage can consume one Philtre of Heavenly Lore to provide two crystal mana towards the casting.
    • Any Urizen ritualist performing Hammer of Thunder, Strength of the Bull, Swan's Cruel Wing, Swift Leaping Hare or Tenacity of Jotra can use one Golden Apple (Summer vis) to get one additional rank (according to the normal rules of this) in addition to the normal use of vis in place of crystal mana.
