Overview

The Imperial Senate appoints generals to the Military Council, which is charged with defending the Empire, protecting its borders and defeating its enemies. The Council is responsible for the key strategic decisions made by the Empire. The Council decides where the Imperial armies are sent and which strategic opportunities to pursue.

Forbidden to the Senate

By Imperial Law, it is forbidden for any senator to the enter the chamber of the Military Council. The First Empress is believed to have passed this law to prevent political interference in the work of the Military Council. Once the Senate has appointed the generals, it can have no further direct influence over their decisions.
