Turmoil disturbs the trees of this ancient western forest
Regions of Liathaven

Overview

Liathaven is the ancient western forest between the mountains of Kahraman and Bregasland of the Marches.

Recent History

The Empire lost control of it in 349AE to an incursion of barbarian orcs from the West, who swarmed through the woods avoiding the Vallorn and seized the Navarri settlements. It is not known whether the orcs are coexisting with the Vallorn, but Liathaven is now a direct threat to Empire, as evidenced by the orcs using it as a staging post to launch their invasion of Mournwold in the same year.

Major Features

Liaven’s Dance

The Dance is a network of earthen trails marked in the grass and the trees, several miles wide, worn into the ground with the footfall of centuries. It is said that if you could fly, you would see the Great Dance writ there in earth. Some from Urizen believe that dancing Liaven’s Dance marked the closest humans have come to understanding the path of the soul through the Labyrinth of Ages. The steading of Liaven’s Dance was ancient, dating back -- so the Navarr say -- to days not long after the Vallorn emerged. The loss is sore felt.

Mournstead

The last redoubt of the Navarr in Liathaven, now fallen to the barbarians. There are groves of beggarwood trees deep in the forests here, and rumour says that the first action of the orcs was to cut them to the ground and bear away the trunks.
