Overview

Syrene's Wisdom is located in Syrwatch in the Highborn territory of Casinea. Custodianship of Syrene's Wisdom grants an Imperial title; a seat on the Imperial Bourse; and a seasonal bounty of valuable ilium.

The Resource

In the silver mines above Syrene there are sometimes found brilliant blue seams, no more than a few inches long, that dull chisels upon the first strike. Although these seams are small and difficult to work they yield a constant supply of Ilium.

This Bourse position produces 7 rings of Ilium every season.

Much of the time it's groups of silver miners who are tasked to work the Ilium seams, whenever a new seam is found. Many a visitor to the silver mines, or to Syrene's Wisdom itself, will have heard the miners grumble about their assigned task; Ilium mining is a punishment duty. But it is not a punishment duty because of the difficulty of mining the seam, more the difficulty in surviving the mines.

Syrene's mine is prone to flooding. Sudden, rather vicious floods roar through the mines, catching the unaware, causing the ready to flee in panic for the entrance, and halting all work until the waters subside. And after the waters subside, strange figures can be seen in the mine. The foolish and gullible call them what remains of drowned miners, but some learned sages believe them to be some form of Eternal, drawn to the mine and the Ilium within it.
