"Proposed text for the Vineyards:

Signori D’Argento Vineyards
The most flavoursome cultivars were not always the easiest to grow, however. Virtù Rossa had a wonderfully punchy flavour which added hidden depth, but without constant care withered on the vine; Figlio di Gancio almost danced on the tongue but stubbornly refused to grow straight; Desiderio del Corvo was the essential ingredient behind the local Aversan treasure, Il Vino di Corvo, but wasn’t suitable to grow in larger quantities as it required so much maintenance. And so on.

The Vineyards are the second project of Red Raven Holdings (after the Wellspring of Jade), a building society incorporated in the Caricomare, Sarvos and dedicated towards the construction of sincures that will benefit the Empire and its citizens.
The actual commission of the vineyards was far from straightforward and involved three senators (Magdalena di Sarvos, Gant Archama, and Joseph Holbuck, senators for Sarvos, Temeschwar, and Holberg respectively), and ultimately completed by Brother Dagon with an Imperial Wayleave. All four are considered honoured patrons of the Signori D’Argento Vineyards and entitled to inspect and sample the produce all year round.

However after the sacking of Sarvos by the accursed Grendel in 380YE it became clear to Giacomo, the family head of the Corvinoscuri, that too much of the wealth and power of the region was concentrated in the city and that it was important for commercial interests to be diversified inland. In conjunction with the Compagnia di Rossi (for whom the Vineyards are built) and setting aside lands within the Aversa estate, Giacomo tasked local farmers to start planting the most flavoursome cultivars of Catazari grape to be blended into a selection of the most magnificent vintage wines to grace the Empire.

However the project came across a problem and a reason why it hadn’t been done before. The most flavoursome cultivars were not always the easiest to grow. Virtù Rossa had a wonderfully punchy flavour which added hidden depth, but without constant care withered on the vine; Figlio di Gancio almost danced on the tongue but stubbornly refused to grow straight; Desiderio del Corvo was the essential ingredient behind the local Aversan treasure, Il Vino di Corvo, but wasn’t suitable to grow in larger quantities as it required so much maintainance.

There was a solution, seeding the lands with Weirwood as a Marcher would seed his farmsteads. With Weirwood, the most obstinate vines would grow true and strong and ready to be harvested in sufficient quantities.

This however would require as much as ten wains of Weirwood and so Giacomo transferred the project to Red Raven Holdings so that it could be properly funded, commissioned and overseen by the civil service.

The senatorial commission for the Vineyards was drafted by Magdalena di Sarvos, the much-loved Senator for Sarvos, commissioned by Gant Archama, the widely-admired Senator for Temeschwar and seconded by the well-respected Joseph Holbuck, acting Senator for Holberg and proprietor of the fabulous Holbuck Brewery, although due to a bit of legalese the commission was actually signed off officially by Brother Dagon in his role as Imperial Wayleave. The above are all considered honoured patrons of the Signori D’Argento Vineyards and as such are entitled to inspect and sample the produce all year round.

Due to the incredibly wide variety of cultivars growing at the Vineyards they have effectively become a repository for rare grape seeds which otherwise may have become extinct. In light of this, alongside being responsible for the maintenance of the Vineyards, the Vine Tender is also tasked with cataloging and hunting down any rare cultivars that are currently not under their care so they can be preserved for future generations. One such cultivar is the elusive Dawnish Barrenberry which has so far avoided acquisition."

The most exquisite strains of Catazaari grapes are cultivated at Signori d'Argento.

Overview

The Signori d'Argento Vine Tender is an Imperial title commissioned by Brother Dagon of the Shattered Tower using an Imperial Wayleave. The position of Vine Tender is a sinecure, requiring minimal responsibility but offering a regular monetary income.

The garden is in the region of Foracci, Sarvos, on the outskirts of the Aversa Estates.

Responsibilities

The Vine Tender has no particular responsibilities; they simply receive a stipend from the vineyards. If the Signori d'Argento were to be threatened in any way, however, it would be their responsibility to deal with those threats. Likewise, if any opportunity relating to the vineyards presented itself, they would make any decisions needed to take advantage of it.

Powers

The Vine Tender is an Imperial title that grants custodianship of a sinecure.

Vine Tender's Stipend

The holder of the sinecure receives 10 crowns, 16 rings each season from the vineyards.

Selection

The Vine Tender is a League national position appointed by the Senate. Under normal circumstances it will be appointed by unanimous vote of the League senators.

Because this is a national position, the title can only be held by a League citizen.

Removal

The Vine Tender has tenure and serves until they die, step down or are revoked.

They can be revoked by the League national assembly, the General assembly or the Assembly of the Nine.
