Overview

Assembly Urizen.png
This title is appointed by the Urizen Assembly

The Custodian of the Omphalos is an Imperial title awarded to a citizen of Urizen. The announcement to construct the Dreaming Spire, an edifice, was made by Lucrezia Corvinascura, as Chair of the Wolf, during the Spring Equinox 387YE.

The Custodian of the Omphalos has a responsibility to epitomise and maintain Urizen culture in Spiral, and oversees the Dreaming Spire, the Omphalos, in Ankra, Spiral.

Responsibilities

The Custodian of the Omphalos is responsible for epitomising and maintaining Urizen culture in Spiral. In addition, if the Dreaming Spire were to come under threat, it would be the responsibility of the Custodian to respond to those threats.

Appointment

The Custodian of the Omphalos is a national position which is appointed by judgement of the Urizen Assembly.

The Custodian of the Omphalos is appointed during the Spring Equinox each year. They can be revoked by the General Assembly, the Urizen Assembly, and the Assembly of the Nine.

Recent Elections

The table to the right shows the citizens who have been elected to hold this title in the years since Empress Britta died.

The Dreaming Spire

The Dreaming Spire is designed around a trio of resonances: The dominant Chalice - Things Heal and Things Apart Come Together - evoked in lightstone beacons atop six of the spire towers. The Oak - Things Endure - and The Fountain - Things Live - are evoked in many-hued lightstones embedded within a series of trees throughout the twinned gardens within the spires. The Omphalos itself, the centre point of Urizen, is doubly marked: First, found upon a great plinth, the overlapping node between The Oak and The Fountain, representing the stars Ahinus, The Source and Tirion, Who Stands.

Secondly, through a door within the plinth itself, a stairwell descends to the Sanctum of Stars. This domed room houses the Omphalos stone itself at its centre: an obelisk which echoes those in Redoubt and Zenith, and connects to the tracery focusing on the Block. The Sanctum of Stars is kept dark.

The Dreaming Spire is designed as a site not only as a focus of Urizen culture, but also as a gathering place. As such, in addition to all the typical amenities of a larger spire, there is a mixture of dwellings suitable for refugees, itinerants, or otherwise. The Library of the Dreaming Spire's library houses the library of Solen’s Doubt. The names of all of the fallen of the Battle of Solen's Doubt are etched into its walls
