Overview

The Wise Arborist is an Imperial title awarded to a citizen of the Imperial Orcs. Construction of the Feldspar Distillery was announced by Bleakshield Groza as Legion Engineer during the Spring Equinox 386YE and construction was completed shortly before the Winter Solstice 386YE. More information on the opportunity can be found in the Standing in the sun wind of fortune.

Responsibilities

The Wise Arborist is responsible for aiding Imperial Orc herbalists and apothecaries and helping them prosper. If the distillery, or travellers using the distillery, were to be threatened in any way it would be the responsibility of the Arborist to deal with those threats. Likewise, if any particular opportunity were to arise related to the distillery, the Arborist would expect to be consulted as to how that opportunity might be resolved.

Powers

Suitability
The Wise Arborist is intended to be held by a Yerende If the title is held by a character who is not a Yerende, or they change their sept whilst they have the title, then the player must email admin@profounddecisions.co.uk to let us know.

Precious Cuttings

The sinecure provides three drams each of bladeroot, cerulean mazzarine, marrowort, Imperial roseweald, true vervain, and realmsroot each season, to be used as they see fit.

Plentiful Orcsroot

The gardeners of the Yerende mastered the cultivation of orcsroot centuries ago. When an Imperial Orc upgrades their herb garden they can choose for it to produce a single dram of orcsroot each season, rather than two regular herbs.

Appointment

The Wise Arborist is appointed by unanimous decision of the Imperial Orc senators. If a unanimous decision cannot be reached, the title may be appointed by the Senate instead.

The title can be held by any Imperial Orc citizen. The Arborist has tenure, and serves until they die or step down. They can be revoked by the General Assembly, the Imperial Orc National Assembly, and by the Assembly of the Nine.

Constitutional Note

  • The appointment method of this title is unconstitutional, it does not follow a well-worn path
  • The title can operate and be re-elected normally
  • The title cannot be amended by the Imperial Senate without also addressing the issue of the unconstitutional appointment method

The appointment method of this title has been determined to be unconstitutional following a review carried out by the Constitutional Court. The title ought to be appointed by the members of the Imperial Apothecaries Guild. This status does not impact the use of any legal powers the position has and the title will be re-elected normally. However the title should not be used as an example of a well-worn path for a position with these responsibilities and it would not be possible to make any legal changes to the title (as the result of an opportunity or otherwise) without either addressing the issue of who appoints that title at the same time, or amending the responsibilities of the position so that it was clearly outside the remit of the sodality.

Recent Elections

This title is currently held by Meep. This title has tenure, the occupant may hold the title until it is revoked, they die or they relinquish the position. The table to the right shows the citizens who have been elected to hold this title in the years since Empress Britta died.

The Title in Play

The role does not provide additional information about events in the Empire, nor allow the player holding it to request special reports or downtime actions. These details are assumed to be below the abstraction layer. The title holder is encouraged to create their own stories about their activities within reasonable limits and to get involved in events appropriate to their title during the game, but they do not have any powers beyond those explicitly listed in the section on powers.

These details exist partly to provide context and character to the role - and partly to allow our writers to use the title as a plot hook. Plot that involves the position will be rare - but all the campaign positions in Empire have these details to create the potential for it to happen.
